Siterra Helps Usher in 4G Era

New Siterra+ Platform Helps Wireless Industry Drive Build-out of Next Generation Nationwide Wireless Broadband Networks

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 1, 2008 — When Virginia-based telecommunications firm TerreStar Networks Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of TerreStar Corporation (NASDAQ: TSTR), embarked on rolling out North America's first all-IP fourth-generation (4G) mobile satellite and terrestrial communications network, it chose Siterra's web-based program management platform to manage the deployment of their terrestrial network. TerreStar chose Siterra for its ability to integrate wireless industry-specific best practices into standardized collaborative workflows across all vendors building new network sites. Siterra's highly configurable system gives TerreStar the ability to create and maintain standardized work streams for critical business processes like reviewing, permitting, construction, and leasing. Siterra also provides TerreStar's site development managers and executives with the visibility and control needed to scale its network quickly and to significantly reduce the total cost and deployment time.

"We expect Siterra to significantly reduce the complexity of rolling out our planned nationwide 4G mobile satellite and terrestrial communications network," said Patrick Murray, Sr. Vice President, Operations, for TerreStar. "With Siterra's workflow-based program management tools we have the ability to ensure all our vendors adhere to well-defined processes and can validate all work performed. The resulting program data that is stored in Siterra gives us complete visibility into the status and trends across our entire portfolio of future 4G network sites. It's a key element in driving the efficiency of our operations."

TerreStar isn't the only fast-growing wireless infrastructure firm using Siterra to complete its next-generation wireless network build-out. FiberTower, an innovative backhaul provider for major wireless carriers, is also using Siterra to rapidly expand its unique hybrid network architecture, consisting of microwave and fiber technologies, across North America. One of the nation's largest utility companies, also a major wireless cell tower co-location provider in the western U.S., is using Siterra to manage all employees and vendors working across its portfolio of wireless tower co-location projects. Northrop Grumman has deployed Siterra to support building its wireless network project for emergency response agencies in a major U.S. metropolitan area.

"Siterra has established itself as the industry standard platform for managing large-scale multi-enterprise capital programs in the wireless industry", says Josh Holbrook, research director, enterprise software at the Yankee Group "Broad adoption of the Siterra platform to help rollout next generation wireless networks is a reflection of the increasing trend towards greater business process outsourcing and the resultant need for systems that support complex programs spanning multiple organizations and geographies."

Siterra recently introduced Siterra+, its new highly flexible architecture with an improved user interface and more powerful workflow customization capability. "This new architecture maintains our deep industry knowledge of wireless best practices in user-customizable templates." says Subra Malya, Siterra's chief strategy officer "With Siterra+ our customers can easily customize the application to manage multi-enterprise programs for any industry or business-specific process." Providing seamless integration and advanced workflow-driven capabilities, Siterra+'s four product modules consist of:

  • Projects - A full-featured, workflow-driven project management system that coordinates all site-related activities such as site selection, build-outs, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Assets - Siterra users can track and maintain all assets associated with an operating site and integrate asset data with their enterprise financial and other operations support systems.
  • Data | Documents | Photos - A centralized online repository for all operational site related data, custom forms, documents, and photos.
  • Leases - Complete lease management capabilities that integrate with internal and external financial systems to automate and streamline lease billings and payments, monitoring of critical dates, and maintaining financial regulatory compliance.
